A lout swindled an 80th Street woman out of $7,000 on Feb. 21 by pretending to be a lawyer and falsely claiming that her grandson was arrested and that she needed to send the cash to release him on bail.
The perp called the woman — who lives between 14th and 15th avenues — at around 11 am, according to the report, which added that the woman sent the money via a wire transfer.
A pair of punks tried to rob an 86th Street bodega and threatened an employee with a gun on Feb. 18.
The incident occurred at the bodega between Bay Parkway and Bay 31st Street just before 5 am, according to the report. When the dastardly duo entered, one of the men flashed the firearm and told an employee to “empty the register” while the other man went behind the counter and grabbed a second employee to prevent him from fleeing. The perp with the gun then told his accomplice to bring the man he was holding to the back and flashed the firearm again. The perps then fled on 86th Street towards Bay 31st Street, police said.
Police arrested a pair of crooks who allegedly tried to pry open the storage room door in a Bay 14th Street apartment building on Feb. 18.
The pair — who cops say live in the building between 86th Street and Benson Avenue — tried to pry open the door just before 9:30 pm, before fleeing towards 86th Street, according to the report.
A thief broke into a Dahill Road home and stole more than $3,500 worth of jewelry on Feb. 19.
The incident occurred at the home between Avenue P and Quentin Road at around 10:30 am, when the perp entered through the rear window and fled in an unknown direction, police said.
A swindler scammed a 67th Street woman out of $2,300 on Feb. 20 by falsely claiming he had her Social Security number and demanding the cash to protect it, police said.
The woman — who lives between 19th and 20th avenues — received the call just before 9:15 am, according to the report, which added that she transferred the cash to the crook via gift cards she purchased.
A thief stole a 2009 white Ford van from its 86th Street parking spot at some point between Feb. 20 and Feb. 21, police said.
The man parked the van at Bay 40th Street at 11 pm and returned to the spot the next morning, but the van was gone, according to the report.
A baddie broke into a woman’s 74th Street bedroom and stole $200 on Feb. 22.
The incident occurred at the home between 20th and 21st avenues at some point after 8:30 am, when the swiper damaged the metal bars around the window in order to climb in, according to the report.
A lout punched and kicked a man — breaking three bones in the process — after the pair had a verbal dispute on 20th Avenue on Feb. 22.
The incident occurred between 61st and 62nd streets just after 5 pm, police said. The man then took a cab home and realized he felt abnormal pain in his left leg, prompting him to go to a hospital on the distant borough of Staten Island, where doctors concluded that he had three broken bones, according to the report.
A pack of punks punched a man in the head and stole his Supreme bag on Bay 16th Street on Feb. 24.
The incident occurred at 86th Street just before 7:30 pm, and the pack of perps fled in an unknown direction following the incident.
Five goons punched a sleeping straphanger in the face and kicked him — causing bruising, bleeding, and swelling — on a Coney Island-bound N train near the Bay Parkway station on Feb. 24.
The incident occurred near the station at W. Seventh Street just after 4 am, when the baddies crowded the sleeping man and one kicked him in the face twice to wake him up before asking him, “Do you have anything on you?”
When the man said no, the other four perps surrounded him, preventing him from leaving, before the lead crook kicked him a third time and punched in the face. The group fled at the Bay Parkway station and the man disembarked at the Kings Highway station, where emergency medical personnel transported him to Maimonides Medical Center, according to the report.
A criminal stole a man’s wallet and credit cards — plus his daughter’s Social Security card and birth certificate — from his car parked on 80th Street on Feb. 22.
The incident occurred at the parking spot between 16th and 17th avenues at some point after 9:30 am, when the man parked the car, according to the report, which added that the car doors were locked.
