It was simply the Best!

Some of the borough’s foremost brewers and chefs hauled their tastiest creations to Sunset Park on Saturday for the Dime Best of Brooklyn Food and Beer Festival at Industry City.

Local foodies packed the room during each of the event’s three two-hour sessions, which featured dozens of local suds slingers pouring samples of their beers, more than 20 cooks serving up grub, and tunes provided by DJ Get Summered.

The number of different vendors present drew a unique crowd that set the festival apart from similar events, according to an attendee.

“There was a lot going on,” said Fatema Khandaker. “There was a super diverse crowd.”

The shindig culminated this year’s Dime Best of Brooklyn awards, an online poll in which more than 45,000 people voted to name some of the borough’s best businesses in some 128 categories.

Festival food vendors, all of whom were nominees in the 2019 contest, included Clean Meals Brooklyn, Dinosaur BBQ, Empanada Papa, Mozz Arepas, Oaxaca Taqueria, Table 187 Coal Oven Pizza, and roughly 20 other eateries.

And participating breweries included Braven Brewing Company, Brooklyn Brewery, Coney Island Brewing Company, Sixpoint Brewery, War Flag Brewing, and Wartega, and more.

But beers were not the only liquid refreshment on hand — the event featured cocktails made with Johnnie Walker and Bulleit Frontier Whiskey, and kombucha samples from makers Kombrewcha and Brew Dr. Kombucha, whose rep said the festival was a terrific way to introduce his gut-restoring libation to new drinkers.

“It was a great opportunity,” said Bailey Morgan. “It was exciting to showcase our product.”
