Woman dead after fatal Flatlands car crash: Police

Fatal hit: Patricia Lancaster, 63, was killed in a car accident at the intersection of Avenue J and E. 56 Street on March 31.

A 63-year-old Canarsie woman was killed in a car crash in Flatlands on March 31, according to cops.

Patricia Lancaster was driving on E. 56th Street at 4:40 p.m. when the side of her car was hit by a 19-year-old driver at the intersection of Avenue J.

Paramedics found the woman with severe trauma to her torso and took her to Mount Sinai Brooklyn Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to authorities.

The other driver remained at the scene and is not currently facing any charges, cops said.

Isn't there a video showing the 19 yo speeding thru the red light. If so this isn't an accident it's murder. If someone is at fault it's not an accident at all. The pd no longer calls them accidents anyway. They call them crashes.

I don't think the young man's life should be destroyed over this terrible mistake (even though it caused taking of someone else's life). But he shouldn't be allowed to drive... perhaps ever again.
