A Gravesend man will spend 15 years behind bars for killing his girlfriend’s three-year old son by beating the boy so badly that he fractured his skull, the Brooklyn District Attorney announced Tuesday.

“This was a senseless death of a helpless little boy who was left in the defendant’s care,” said Eric Gonzalez. “There is no excuse ever, under any circumstances, for beating a child.”

A judge in Brooklyn Supreme Court handed down the sentence to Salvatore Lucchesse on April 2, weeks after he pled guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the murder of Jaden Jordan.

Lucchesse was home alone with the toddler for a nearly eight-hour stretch on Nov. 28, 2016, while his girlfriend was working, according to information provided by the district attorney’s office.

At about 4:30 p.m., Lucchesse called 911 and said that Jordan was unconscious, according to the DA’s office, which added that emergency medical personnel found the tot unresponsive and covered in his own feces at the home.

Paramedics brought the boy to Coney Island Hospital before transferring him to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, where he fell into a coma and remained on life support until doctors took him off of it on Dec. 3, 2016, when he died.

Officials later discovered that Jordan had sustained severe head trauma and a fractured skull, and authorities with the Medical Examiner’s office eventually ruled the death a homicide, finding the cause of death to be abusive head and neck trauma, according to the DA’s office.
