Fatal crash in Canarsie

Fatal crash: An investigator from the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad investigates the scene where a motorcyclist was killed at Rockaway Parkway and Avenue J on Wednesday. The victim has been identified as Ashmeade Rohan. A woman who was a passenger on the motorcycle sustained minor injuries.

A motorcyclist was killed and his passenger injured when he was struck by a driver on Avenue J at Rockaway Parkway on June 3.

Police say Ashmeade Rohan of Flatbush was driving a Suzuki motorcycle on Avenue J when he was struck by a vehicle turning left from Rockaway Parkway at 9:30 pm.

Rohan was transported to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. A woman who was a passenger on the motorcycle sustained minor injuries.

The driver stayed on the scene after the incident and so far no arrests have been made. Investigators say Rohan was traveling above the speed limit at the time of the collision.
