Fatal hit-and-run in Canarsie

Hit and run: Cops from the NYPD Highway Patrol Collision Invesitgation Squad investigate the scene where a pedestrian was killed at Glenwood Road and Rockaway Parkway by a driver who then fled the scene. The victim has been identified as Ian Paul Bubb, and the alleged driver was later arrested.

A Flatlands man was killed on May 22 when a driver struck him on Glenwood Road near Rockaway Parkway in Canarsie and then fled the scene.

Police say that Ian Paul Bubb was crossing outside of the marked crosswalk when he was struck by a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee last Friday evening.

Bubb was seen lying on the road with severe body trauma at 8:21 pm, according to authorities. He was taken to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police later arrested the alleged driver, Richard Williams. He is being charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, according to authorities.
