Sheepshead Bay senior goes missing

Police are asking for help finding a missing 85-year-old Sheepshead Bay man who disappeared from his Crawford Avenue home on Aug. 6.

Giovanni Chiovari was last seen at his home between Coney Island Avenue and East 12th Street at 8:00 am. Chiovari only speaks Italian and has difficulty hearing. He is 5-feet tall and has blue eyes, balding gray hair, and a cane with a silver handle. He was last seen wearing a blue checkered shirt, black pants, and black sneakers.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Chiovari is asked to call Crime stoppers at (800) 577–8477. The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at or by texting tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577.
