Police are searching a man who snatched a necklace from a woman in Coney Island and left her face bloody and battered on July 18.

The 54-year-old victim was standing at a bus stop on the corner of Mermaid Avenue and W. 31st Street around 1 pm when her attacker snatched a chain from her neck, pulling so hard that he caused the woman to fall and smash her face on the ground, police said.

The suspect fled, and paramedics took the woman to Coney Island Hospital for treatment of her injuries, police reports state.

The perp was described as a man in his 30s standing 5 feet 7 inches and weighing 160 pounds, last seen wearing a white T-shirt, dark shorts, and white sneakers, police said.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Crime stoppers at (800) 577–8477. The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then entering TIP577.
