Last hurrah: The general consensus is this guy won't be missed.

The Nets ditched their much-maligned mascot the Brooklyn Knight last week, meaning the hunt is on for a replacement that captures the essence of Brooklyn.

We know Nets management is plenty busy looking for ways to fill seats next season after this spring’s meltdown at the hands of the Miami Heat, so we figured we would offer up some suggestions for the team’s next cheerleader in chief. Reasonable discourse

Joe from DUMBO says:
How about a gang member flagging colors, with a pistol sticking out of waistband, a handful of stolen iPhones in his hand, a cast on one arm because he was shot in the street by a rival gang member and his pants down under his butt with his underpants showing.

Whatever. This is funny. I like the pigeon.

Joe, you forgot the 'grill.'

John Wasserman from Prospect Heights says:
Hi Joe. John Wasserman. Now, this is only my opinion, but I'm watching you. Unfortunately you really don't have any frame of reference on this message board and therefore you should not be able to write things on it.
Having said that, I wish the best for you and your possible hopes for having a nice weekend.

Tal Barzilai from Pleasantville, NY says:
In all honesty, all of these mascots look bad. They should either bring back Sly or just not have one anymore. I'm surprised that these ideas for mascots weren't picked. They could have a rat to symbolize Bruce Ratner, a yes man to show how gullible politicians and groups were to this, a weasel to show how much everyone got cheated on this, or even Benedict Arnold to show how much fans before the move were betrayed.

Eazy D from Sheepshead Bay says:
How about Tal as the mascot?

Epiphany from Ex-Brooklyn says:
How about a chain gang consisting of Barclays Bank executives and Brooklyn politicians being led away in handcuffs?

Tal Barzilai from Pleasantville, NY says:
Eazy D, that won't happen unless I collect all profits on that, and I do like the idea Epiphany stated.

Susan from Bay Ridge says:
Boy, you people are humorless.

Tal Barzilai from Pleasantville, NY says:
Personally, I never liked Brooklyn Knight. He doesn't even look like a real mascot, but rather than somebody who put on a weird costume for a game. I couldn't understand why Sly was dropped for this, but I guess it was to get rid of anything that reminded them of NJ.

harriet from brooklyn says:
How about the Buk missile? You know, the one that took down that Malaysian airplane, probably with the support of the Russian government. The Nets owners are good Russians, and the offices are in Moscow, so that's how they deal with their enemies.

Barry from Flatbush says:
Why did they dump Jason Kidd? I thought he was a perfect mascot. He'd look great running out at halftime and shooting t-shirts to the crowd.

John Wasserman from Prospect Heights says:
How about this simple, yet telling idea:
A glass of water with a booger in it.
Pardon the suggestion.

Tal Barzilai from Pleasantville, NY says:
Just looking at all the possible new mascots are bad ideas. Both Mr Net and Crummy the Pigeon both don't look like they are happy. It just feels very awkward to have a condo design as a mascot. As for the other two, I would rather it not be a person be it the hipster or the protester. Another thing, wouldn't having a protester for a mascot be contradicting to this? Then again, the real decision most likely won't be decided by a bunch of fans, but rather by an elite that is in charge of this.

Daquan13 from East Boston says:
Why not call it Tal the Barzilai? Just so that it is completely out of left field?

Joe from Brooklyn Heights says:
Great! Let's hire Marty Markowitz to be the pigeon mascot. He's got plenty of free time now.
July 23, 2014, 12:48 am
Joel Jose from Staten Island NY says:
Crummy the pigeon would be a great mascot for the Brooklyn Nets.
