Cyclones 2

Staten Island 1

June 27 at MCU Park

Marcos Molina pitched a gem last night, throwing a career high of eight strikeouts against New York–Penn League rival, the hated Staten Island Yankees.

Molina tossed six complete innings, gave up only two hits, and walked only one batter. His eight strikeouts also make the team’s high for the season.

It was seven innings of no-run ball until the bottom of the ninth, when Yankees pitching fell apart at the seams. Michael Katz stole second on a pass ball with two outs in the seventh. He reached on a walk, Tyler Moore walked, and Joe Tuschak walked as well. A wild pitch allowed Katz to score. Another wild pitch allowed Moore to score, giving a Cyclones all they needed to put this one in the books.

The Cyclones travel to Staten Island to face the Yanks on their turf on Saturday, June 28.
