A 53-year-old man hanged himself in Prospect Park early Friday, police said.

Cops found the body of Nikolay Vovchok dangling from a tree in Brooklyn’s backyard with a belt wrapped around his neck at 7:48 am, authorities said.

Police said Vovchok committed suicide beside the greenspace’s massive lake near the waterfall trail just off the Long Meadow. He was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Vovchok lived on Avenue N between E. Second Street and E. Third Street in Midwood, according to

Prospect Park-goers were stunned to learn of the suicide.

“That’s so awful to hear,” said Brittany Bowen, who babysits two young Park Slope children and regularly takes them to the Park. “It’s frightening.”

Poor guy; probably was being priced out by some coffee stirrer limbed bearded urban beekeeper or duck enthusiast. Speaking of failures at urban farming - or as we know them better - hipsters, check out this article from the Daily News today. But again - what the heck do I know when I preach?

Can you please try to have a little class, John and diehipster? I know that's something you're not used to but try. Either that or step away from the computer and take a break. Someone just died.

John, you need to stop posting here, you're a psychopath. Almost as much as diehipster troll.

Pardon me, "diehipster," but what the hell does the tragic death of someone driven to suicide have to do with your pathetic little anti-"hipster" hobbyhorse? Or urban farming? I missed the part about the deceased being upset about beekeeping, but I guess you have inside information, what with all the hours you spend online trawling/trolling for things that offend you. What a sad little mind you have. A man took his own life, for god's sake. RIP.

Are people always so pleasant on this site? Someone is dead and the police never get credit for all the good they do. They have to break ups family disputes, cover accidents where people could be badly hurt and bleeding, cover deaths, robberies, and so much more. Give them some respect, just like 5 of any race do not make the whole race bad, 5 of any profession do not make the whole profession bad.
