These sardines don’t come in a can.

A foot-stomping, electrifying jazz troupe called the Hot Sardines will perform their vivacious renditions of Duke Ellington-era songs at the “Hot Summer Nights” free outdoor concert series.

The high-energy band, whose instruments include woodwinds and brasswinds, and even a tap dancer, said that the show at Kingsborough Community College on July 20 will be their biggest Brooklyn performance of the summer.

“It’s exciting, fun music and also very artistic,” said pianist and bandleader Evan “Bibs” Palazzo.

Palazzo said that the Hot Sardines feeds off of the audience’s energy, making no two performances identical.

Parisian-born vocalist “Miz” Elizabeth, said that the 10-member troupe, which dresses in Great Gatsby-like garb, transforms into a “living, breathing organism” on stage as they play songs by icons like Louis Armstrong, Antia O’Day, and Ellington.

“We all bring our own sort of musical obsessions from all the years we’ve spent listening to music,” said Elizabeth, a Park Slope resident.

“Anything goes,” added Palazzo.

The Hot Sardines’ performance is a part of the annual summer concert series presented by On Stage at Kingsborough that takes place every Saturday night in July on the oceanfront campus.

The free performances, held rain or shine, take place at the bandshell on the oceanfront campus. The college provides limited seating, but guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

The concert series kicks off on July 6th.
