Cops say they’ve nabbed the bubble jacket-clad bandit who pretended he had a gun and robbed teenagers in Fort Greene of their iPhones.
Police arrested a 17-year-old suspect last Friday on Greene and Vanderbilt avenues after a motorist recognized his puffy blue coat from an NYPD surveillance video and dialed 911. The alleged robber was later picked out of a police lineup, according to a source.
“We were able to solve these crimes because a driver saw the man on television,” said an officer at the neighborhood’s 88th Precinct.
The thief last struck on Valentine’s Day, snatching an Apple mobile from a 14-year-old girl on Greene Avenue.
In that incident, the victim told police that she was near Adelphi Street with a pal at 5:25 pm when the goon asked, “Do you go to Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School?”
He then faked like he was carrying a pistol and warned her that his accomplice was also armed, according to police documents.
“If you run, my brother is going to get mad and shoot you, so give me your phone!” the crook demanded.
The mugger ordered the victim’s friend to leave the scene, then fled.kbriquelet
