Cops are searching for a crook who mugged at least three teenagers for their iPhones in Fort Greene while pretending he was carrying a gun.

The perp, described as a 6-foot, 18-year-old with a blue bubble coat and a tattoo on his hand, robbed his first victim on Jan. 27 on Greene Avenue, police said.

The 14-year-old victim told cops he was near Vanderbilt Avenue at 4:46 pm when two men approached him. One of them claimed to be armed and demanded his Apple device. The pair fled after the victim forked it over.

Two other incidents were harrowingly similar — though this time the thief acted alone.

• On Feb. 7, the marauder held up a 13-year-old on Greene Avenue and Cumberland Street at 5 pm, according to police. He fled after the victim gave up his fancy mobile.

• A week later, the goon pretended he was carrying a pistol and robbed a 14-year-old girl of her iPhone at 5:25 pm at Greene Avenue and Adelphi Street.

Capt. Scott Henderson said that iPhone users should get the free “Find my Phone” app — since cops used it to retrieve one woman’s cell an hour after a thief snatched it on Fulton Street last week.

“We’re encouraging people to download anti-theft apps to their phones,” said Henderson. “Sometimes they help us make arrests.”

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-8477; visit; or text 274637 then enter “TIP577.”

Reasonable discourse

Capt Henderson is an ass. Maybe he should advise that children not carry around $500 shiny items that thieves like instead of telling them to to load software on it. Someone is going to get killed so Dick Tracey can try out his tracking software

Swamp Yankee is a loudmouthed idiot.

Doesn't he understand that the government (and yes, that includes the police) aren't here to tell you what to buy or not, but they are here to help you protect yourself and your property? Or is the only part of being an American he understands consist of "My Freedom to say what I want! No matter how stupid I sound!"

@SwampYankee & @Joey

FYI you can get an Iphone for free or at a seriously deep discount if you've been with your cellphone provider for several years. Not everyone is paying for their phone full price.

At the same time parents should think twice about giving their children expensive phones in this day in age. Back in the day children were getting jacked for expensive sneakers, leather jackets and designer glasses when I was growing up - sensible parents did not send out their children with those items.

I believe Capt Henderson is doing the best with what he has to deal with.
