A 26-year-old Red Hook resident was shot and killed in his apartment on Monday — the first murder of the year in the confines of the 76th Precinct.

Few details were available, but police said that the Red Hook Houses resident was shot in the face in his apartment at around 4:15 pm. A police source said that the crime was the result of a drug deal gone wrong.

Last year, there were five homicides in the precinct.
