Scrappers 1

Cyclones 2

Friday, July 16 at MCU Park

Undefeated starter Angel Cuan gave up lots of singles, but got outs when he needed them, giving up just one run on eight hits in 6-2/3 innings to get his third win of the year.

The Cyclones got all they’d need in the third, when newcomer Amauris Valdez doubled and then scored on Luis Nieves’s homer.

The Cyclones only managed six hits on the night, but the powerful heart of the order — Darrell Ceciliani, Cory Vaughn and Jeff Flagg — got one each.

Three Cyclone relievers combined to no-hit the Scrappers over the last 2-1/3 innings.

The next Cyclones home game is Tuesday, July 20 at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 19th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449-8497]. For info, visit www.brooklyncyclones.com.
