Bridge too far

A mugger socked a woman in the face and stole her purse as she crossed the footbridge over the Gowanus Expressway near Henry Street late on Feb. 2.

The victim, 36, said the assailant grabbed her from behind at around 10:10 pm, spun her around and punched her, before running away with her bag, which contained a phone, credit cards and $80.

A safe-cracking crook stole $7,700 from a Union Street apartment between Jan. 29 and Feb. 2.

The resident, 31, told police that someone broke the lock on the coffers in his bedroom while he was away from the apartment between Henry and Clinton streets. There were no signs of forced entry.

Vent his problem

A prowler burglarized a Beard Street business by slithering through the air vent on the roof overnight on Feb. 4.

The 48-year-old owner told police that no one was in the office between Richards and Van Brunt streets from 7:30 pm to 7:15 the next morning. When he arrived, he discovered that a desktop computer had been heisted and that the thief fled through the door to the roof.
