The festive spirit flowed freely as stilt performers and acrobats shared the spotlight with jugglers and dancers during a holiday extravaganza at the Christian Cultural Center for youngsters in need.
More than 3,000 children from shelters and low-income public housing residences were feted at the community facility, 12020 Flatlands Avenue, where they received toys and books as part of the annual “Best of Brooklyn” extravaganza coordinated in conjunction with Borough Hall.
The crowd-pleasing entertainment included a spoof on the classic “Christmas Carol,” dance and step performances by Nubian Gents, and the
Flames, plus dance and percussion presentations by “The Street Beats.”
In addition, the Brooklyn Ballet staged a scene from “The Nutcracker” while members of the Fool’s Academy wowed the crowd with their daredevil hijinks.
A choir from the Middle School of Arts in East New York capped the revel.
