The 28th annual Brooklyn Columbus Parade, sponsored in part by the Federation of Italian-American Organization (FIAO) honored FIAO Grand Marshals Louise Verdemare-Alfano, Anthony W. Cromwell and Hon. Luigi R. Marano.

Mass was celebrated at St. Antanasius Church, following mass the Columbus Parade marched along 18th avenue, from 61st to 84th street in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn.

Funds raised during the parade will be used by the FIAO to construct the first Italian American Cultural Community Center. The building will be constructed at the corner of 18th avenue and Benson Avenue. It is the hope of the FIAO that the community center will instill pride in Italian American identity and foster brotherhood among the many ethnic groups in the community.
