Nine Troop 531 scouts were hailed with the organization’s highest laurel when they were inducted into the Eagle Court of Honor during a pomp-filled ceremony at Three Hierarchs Greek Orthodox Church.

Elevated to the distinguished rank were: Argirios Davanelos, Aristo Filippakis, Stamatis Kakleas, Gregory Kougentakis, Nicholas Ioannidis, Michael Malegiannakis, Andrew Moutzouroulias, Iliya Tynan and Christopher Vellios.

Scoutmaster Dean Veroutis presided over the installation, attended by proud family members and fellow scouts at the house of worship, 1724 Avenue P.

Chartered in 1958 and affectionately known as “The Golden Greeks,” Troop 531 has produced more than 100 Eagle scouts.

Upholding tradition, inductees pinned their proud moms with their Eagle pins.
