Manhattanites may have their Zagat Guide, but in Brooklyn, we have our Marty.

The other day, Borough President Markowitz dropped by the always-excellent Mill Basin Deli to mark the eatery’s 36th anniversary — and, judging by the photo that his office sent over, enjoy a bit of the wares.

That’s deli owner Mark Schachner posing with Markowitz, who gave his comrade in corned beef an official proclamation that celebrated Schachner’s commitment to quality in both his food (the place is considered one of the best Kosher delis in the city) and art (believe it or not, the walls of the Avenue T restaurant are lined top to bottom with rare Erte and Lichtenstein prints).

Best of all are the fries.

Reasonable discourse

Hey Marty : I saw the ad " Take Your Man to the Doctor", well I can see from this picture you are not heeding your own advise. This pastrami sandwich is an artery clogger. Especially when your already had heart problems & angioplasty. Get with the program Marty. Don't be another politician who says do I say not as I do. You are setting a bad example.

Bob from Brooklyn Heights says:
Now, if he WALKED to Borough Hall after eating at the Mill Basin deli, he could "have his pastrami and eat it too" (yuk yuk) … at least he'd have walked off the meal (it's about 10 miles!).

Mill Basin Deli has very good food but a greasy floor. Not only is it slippery to walk on, but disgusting if you drop something that you'd rather not just leave there, such as your pen. I figure it comes from the staff tracking it out of the kitchen into the dining rooms. Imagine the kitchen! I used to go there occasionally until the floor finally grossed me out one last time.

Wonder if Marty still likes Junior's after the rat fiasco.

What, nothing on Juniors? Is Goish getting cheesecake kickbacks?
