‘09’ stellar for KCC squad

Kingsborough Community College’s men’s tennis team completed its 2009 seasons with a five wins and one loss record.

At the New York State Region 15 playoffs, the community college, located at 2001 Oriental Boulevard in the Manhattan Beach section of Brooklyn, finished in second place, qualifying them for the Junior College Nationals Championships in Plano, Texas.

During the Regional, Sardorjan Mamnadjanov won first singles, Captan Mackim Vergazov won second singles, Mamnadjanov and Vergazov won first doubles, and Alon Salman was a finalist in third singles.

During the Nationals, first singles was again captured by Mamnadjanov, earning him the title of best singles player in Division III in the country, and first team All America. Maksim Vergazov finishes second in second singles and Maksim and Sardorjan combined to be the best doubles team in the country, earning All American honors.
