Senator Carl Kruger visited two borough schools — PS 195 and Roy H. Mann IS 78 — on the first day of school to greet students and teachers and wish them well in the new academic year.

At PS 195, 131 Irwin Street in Manhattan Beach, Principal Arthur Forman introduced Kruger to the eager students gathered in the auditorium.

At IS 78, 1420 East 68th Street in Bergen Beach, Principal Phyllis Marino and Parent Coordinator Dorothy D’Aleo escorted Kruger and Community Board 18 District Manager Dorothy Turano to Mr. Waxman’s math class, where Class CIG 601 was getting acquainted with their teacher on their first day of junior high.

“You have to read, read, read in order to succeed in school and in life,” Kruger told the students.

Kruger also gave each student at both schools one of the most important tools they need to achieve — a brand-new pencil.
