In celebration of African Liberation Day, May 22, Habana Oupost presents “Back To My Roots,” an exhibition showcasing never before exhibited works by documentary photographer Stanley Lumax Jr.
The exhibition includes an array of photos documenting life in today’s Ghana bringing the viewer on a pulsating journey through a small West African country with an intense history of determination to free themselves from foreign domination and exploitation.
Using the camera as his mediator Stanley creates a vivid dialogue inviting not only the viewer, but also his inner self to (re)discover Ghana, its people and his roots.
An opening reception will be held May 22 from 7-9 p.m. at Habana Outpost, 757 Fulton Street in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn. The restaurant is NYC’s first eco-eatery, gallery and market that uses earth-friendly practices in their design, construction, and day-to-day operations.
