Lutheran HealthCare (LHC) and its board of trustees’ 125th Anniversary Dinner Dance celebrity performer will be standup comedian, actor, author, and filmmaker David Brenner.

The 125th Anniversary Dinner Dance will be held at the Chelsea Piers, 23rd Street and the Hudson River, May 10 starting at 6:30 p.m.

The annual event much-needed dollars for LHC health programs and community services. This year’s fundraiser will support the expansion of Lutheran Medical Center’s Emergency Department Quick Care Program.

Additionally, Michael Gargiulo, co-anchor of News 4 New York at 5 p.m., will serve as the event’s special guest emcee.

Brenner is a stand-up comedian and talk show favorite, frequently appearing on programs including “The Tonight Show,” “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher,” CNN’s “Paula Zahn Now,” and “The Daily Show with John Stewart,” among many others.

According to the “Book of Lists #2,” he is the most frequent talk show guest of any entertainer. Brenner is the author of a number of books and HBO specials, including his most recent, “David Brenner: Back with a Vengeance.”

As the health system’s primary fundraiser, the event raises much-needed dollars to support its wide-ranging health and community service programs.

The 2008 highlight honoree is Brett D. Yormark, president and CEO of Nets Sports and Entertainment, LLC, for his service and commitment to Brooklyn’s future. His current mission is to spearhead the Nets’ move to the Frank Gehry-designed Barclays Center in Brooklyn, which will take place during calendar year 2010.

Additional presenting sponsors include the May Ellen and Gerald Ritter Foundation, Commerce Bank, The Mount Sinai Medical Center, and Forest City Ratner Companies.

The Lutheran HealthCare Dinner Dance serves three very important purposes: to celebrate Lutheran’s 125-year legacy of providing quality care to the communities of Brooklyn, to honor special individuals who have made tremendous contributions to Lutheran and the communities they serve, and to raise much-needed funds.

In recognition of Lutheran’s 125th anniversary, the event will also honor the health system’s medical and dental staff presidents throughout the years.
