On a recent Monday evening, an especially appetizing smell wafted out of the kitchen at Mark Twain Intermediate School I.S. 239.

A far cry from the usual cafeteria fare, the aroma signified the start of a very special meal prepared by students in one seventh-grade class for their family and friends.

Under the watchful eye of celebrity chef Daisy Martinez, a Brooklyn resident whose daughter attends the school, the enterprising students of class 7B concocted dinner for 120 people
