The image prompted an avalanche of emails and phone calls declaring The Papers “sexist,” “tasteless,” and “soft-core porn,” and The Papers apologized. Yet the one person who wasn’t bothered was the flesh-baring actress herself. “I would be shocked if such a cover could offend her,” said Gyllenhaal’s lawyer, Lorraine Nadel. “Why would a celebrity be offended if a newspaper used her publicity photo?” Hmmm. Perhaps Maggie should wait until she’s finalized her move to the Slope before she answers.
