Two purse-snatchings within five days at two Atlantic Avenue malls prompted these humble lines of verse, sung to the tune of the holiday classic, “Jingle Bells”:

Last week in two malls
Two women lost their bags
It cast a heavy pall
It made those spirits flag

Atlantic Center store
A woman browsing shoes
On December Four
Her handbag picked right through!

Oh, Christmastime,
Christmastime
A burglar’s fav’rite week
You have to watch your purse and bag
They rob both strong and meek
Oh, Christmastime,
Christmastime
It happens every year
If you don’t secure your stuff
It’s sure to disappear.
It went from bad to worse
At Atlantic Terminal
A woman lost her purse
To a thief quite manual

She lost just her phone
The other gal lost more
A gift card to bemoan
She’s hundreds dollars poor-er

Christmastime,
Christmastime
Don’t become a shnook
You have to watch those valuables
To stop those evil crooks
Oh, Christmastime,
Christmastime
If you shop at malls
Don’t say you haven’t been forewarned
Don’t act oh so appalled!
